Biography

Dr. Chahal qualified as a Chartered Counselling Psychologist in 2014 and has since been working in the NHS and Social Care with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing mental health difficulties. She currently works in the NHS as a Principal Counselling Psychologist in a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency Family Court Assessment Team undertaking comprehensive psychological assessments of children, adolescents, adults, and families in court proceedings, alongside working as an independent Chartered Counselling Psychologist in private practice.

Dr. Chahal has a special interest in working with trauma and attachment difficulties and has maintained her skills and experience in working with children, adolescents, and adults. She is able to provide evidence-based interventions for a range of emotional and mental health
difficulties, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, stress and burnout, grief and loss, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and trauma.

Dr. Chahal views the therapeutic relationship as being central to enabling facilitative change and meaning-making for her clients. She offers short-term and long-term therapy that is goal oriented. Her approach to therapy is integrative, which means that she draws on
several different therapeutic approaches to develop a shared understanding of your difficulties that makes sense to you and a therapeutic intervention plan to enable you to meet your goals and improve the quality of your life. Dr. Chahal’s approach is informed by
her training and experience in a range of therapeutic models, for example, Compassion Focused Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Systemic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Mentalisation Based Therapy.

She is registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is Chartered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) in the United Kingdom. She is a member of the BPS Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors (RAPPS) and of EuroPsych. Dr. Chahal also holds the Cardiff University Bond Solon (CUBS) Expert Witness Family Certificate (2022).
